Found Gallery, formerly the Orphanage, was founded in summer 2006 by John Schwartz and Jonny Coleman. In our brief history, we have exhibited work by French graffiti artist JR, Cold War Kids bassist Matt Maust, and freak-folk icon Devendra Banhart as well as hosted gallery events in conjunction with creative forces like Four Eyed Monsters and McSweeney's author Salvador Plascencia.
Found also appreciates the value of music and its relation to the visual arts, as we have featured several accomplished musicians/visual artists as well as having integrated sound and music into all of our events as appropriately and powerfully as possible.
Ultimately, the artist rules at Found. Artists have the license to take over the space as they see fit. Further, Found hosts several collaborative efforts (Micro Gestalt, the Joint Custody Project, My Best Friend Doesn't Live Here, and more) that are interactive visual experiments which further the ability of the artists to work and share experience.
Found Gallery offers bold, unique artwork and a richness in quality derived from the freedom we lend to the artists, all at reasonable, non-inflated price points.
Happy Arting & Art Watching,
